"Who then is my neighbour?"

Updated: Jul 1, 2019

I have had occasion to be in our neighbour church, the Community of Christ, Wabash, many times for receptions, speakers, art exhibitions, Scout dinners, worship services, etc. but the glorious June Sunday the 9th was the hospitality event of the year – the Sunday School Picnic! The outdoor area, fenced and safe for the children, was set up with games and activities for the little ones. A large canopy tent sheltered the crowd, and a sophisticated sound system projected talks from organizers Tammy McBrayne and Willy Malott, the Sunday school teachers of each class, and a poet, Merv Jacques, who read his fun rhymes. Peace Awards were presented to Grade 12 students, Brynn Depencier, LKCS, Eriga Westerberg, LKCS, and Joshua Thompson, CKSS. Guest musicians, Marc, Kim, and Brad Reid presented a worship concert, mostly upbeat and with singalong for the children, who in turn gave their music guests handmade cards of welcome.  A spectacular feast was arranged on tables outside following the service--a great chance to visit with neighbours and friends, and with many from afar:  Ridgetown, Chatham, Wallaceburg. Mr. Ross Wood, looking great, was feted at the event, and went on to his 95th birthday dinner.

Thank you, Neighbours.

PS Thanks to Amy Malott for the photograph. You can check out the Wabash United Facebook post about the event and see more!
